New Stuff: Better Listings and New User Tutorial

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

There are a couple of new features for invotrak. First, the listings pages are displaying completed invoices as pages: if you have hundreds of completed invoices, you can easily page through them to find the one you’re looking for. In addition, you can also sort invoice listings: just click the title of the column to re-sort.

Second, there’s a new user tutorial available, designed to give new users a walk through of invotrak. We’ve designed invotrak to be as simple as possible, and hopefully this tutorial will make it easier for new users to get started.

The features come from user suggestions, so if you have an idea for invotrak, be sure to let us know!

Now tracking: $3m+

$3 million tracked! The invotrak site has just reached a significant milestone: it’s now tracking over $3 million US dollars in users’ invoices!  This is very exciting, as it shows just how far invotrak has come since it launched!  And, on a personal note, it’s very encouraging to see people using a tool we developed and finding it helpful.

Here are a couple of facts about overdue invoices: since invotrak launched, of the invoices that weren’t paid on time (but that were eventually paid), roughly 20% were paid within 31-60 days of being overdue, and only 7% were paid between 61-90 days.  Based on this, it’s best to make sure your clients are paying their invoices on time, and not to let payments go beyond that 60 day mark, as the likelihood of payment at all drastically declines.

We plan to put up some original content about tracking invoices, some of the tips we’ve come across, and more interesting statistics in the near future.  For the time being, however, we’d love to hear from you!  How have you used invotrak?  What do you like/not like?  What can we do to improve the site further?

invotrakHi everyone, and welcome to the new invotrak blog! We’ve launched this new blog as a common forum for: status updates about the invotrak service and tips/tricks/tutorials/etc regarding invoice/accounting-related topics. We hope to have open discussions to get your input in making a better service, as well as to create a community of freelancers/small-business owners and others who use invotrak to track their invoices.

To get started using the blog, you can subscribe to our feed by clicking the Subscribe link in the sidebar on the right. Subscribing to a feed means you’ll receive updates from us in your feed reading software (such as within Firefox, or using another application). Check out the Wikipedia article for details on the feeds.

To comment, you don’t need an account – we’re allowing anonymous comments for the time being. To write a comment for an article, just use the handy form at the bottom of the page. We’re requiring that an editor approve comments before appearing on the article, so please be patient. This is only to eliminate the troublesome spam many blogs see these days, and we hope to have a good anti-spam filter in place soon so we won’t have to do this.

Finally, we want to hear from you! If you have a story, idea, tips or tricks, or anything you think users of invotrak may be interested in, send it in! In addition, we hope to stimulate community discussions by opening up blog threads for input, so be sure to check back often and add your thoughts. Thanks for checking out the invotrak blog, and we hope you come back often!
